Pisa and Piazza dei Miracoli
An ancient Maritime Republic, Pisa is a city steeped in history. Beyond the famous Piazza dei Miracoli complex with the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral and the Baptistery where Galileo Galilei was baptised (born in Pisa in 1564), visit Knights' Square with the Palazzo della Carovana (now home to the Scuola Normale Superiore) and the Church of Santo Stefano with captured Ottoman battle flags. Stroll along the Lungarni, admire Keith Haring's "Tuttomondo" mural, and discover that Leonardo Fibonacci, the mathematician who brought Arabic numerals to Europe, was also born here.
Lucca, city of art

In the footsteps of Giacomo Puccini
Born in Lucca in 1858, Puccini composed his masterpieces at his villa in Torre del Lago, on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli, just a few kilometres from the Casale. The villa is now a museum housing the Steinway piano on which he composed Turandot. In summer, the Puccini Festival stages open-air operas in the lakeside Grand Theatre — active since 1930. A boat trip on the lake completes the experience.

The beaches of Versilia are less than half an hour away. Viareggio with its Art Nouveau promenade and famous Carnival, Forte dei Marmi for exclusive shopping, Pietrasanta — "the little Athens" — with its art galleries. Nobel Prize winner Giosuè Carducci was born in Valdicastello (house museum open to visitors). The Versiliana park hosts summer shows under the pine trees.

Right behind the Casale, Monte Pisano offers panoramic trails through olive groves and woods. Reach the Rocca della Verruca for a breathtaking view, visit the Certosa di Calci and its Natural History Museum. The San Giuliano thermal baths complete the day of relaxation.

Casale del Sole is located in Pugnano (PI), at Via Antonio Cantani 50, in a strategic position between Pisa and Lucca, at the foot of Monte Pisano. The Leaning Tower of Pisa and Piazza dei Miracoli are just 9-10 km away, the historic centre of Lucca is 12 km, and Pisa International Airport is 13 km. The sea is very close: the beaches of Marina di Vecchiano and Marina di Pisa are reachable in about 20 minutes by car, as is the Versilia coast. Florence, the Cinque Terre and San Gimignano are ideal destinations for day trips.
How many rooms are there and how many guests can you accommodate?
The property has two units. Suite Athena accommodates 2 to 6 guests with a double bed, an extra single bed, a sofa bed, and a kitchenette. Camera Venere is designed for couples and small families (2-3 guests) with a double bed and the option of an extra single bed or a cot. Both units have a private bathroom with shower, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Is breakfast included in the stay?
Yes. Breakfast is included and is prepared with locally sourced products from the family farm. Guests have rated it as one of the highlights of their stay (Booking.com 8.8/10).
Are pets and children allowed?
Pets are not allowed, out of respect for other guests. Children are welcome: a cot is available free of charge on request. The property is also non-smoking.
